RONG & SHAN

Xiufeng District, Guilin, Guangxi

I spotted this rehearsal in the lake areas of the small city of Guilin. You'll see the Hanfu (汉服) which has endured in its own right, something entirely separate from the iconic dresses and mandarin jackets that spread from China in the early 20th century. They yield a type of movement synonymous with gentle tailoring, which envelopes into contemporary values.

The landscape enchants the city if you can remove yourself far enough from the traffic. As electrification becomes the norm, it's already easier to see where this all leads. When modernity compresses, we look for relief in the natural wonders of everything that is.

Trains shrink the distance between the geography of the country. Sometimes — well most of the time these in-between locales are places you'll never go, but the simple modesty of them is something to admire.

Twin pagodas create a centre focal point in the evening as things wind down. This is the kind of sight you see crossing through the central downtown area.
